Effective March 1st, 2025, Dr. Kes Morton has stepped down as CEO of Pisces Research Project Management (Pisces RPM) after eight years in the role. Kes has appointed Dr. Melissa Weber, former Head of Ocean Research Project Management, and Natalie Gilson, Former Head of Ocean Science Communications, to take over co-ownership of the company moving forward. This change comes after careful planning and consideration about the future of the organization and its unique position within Canada’s Ocean Sector.

“The funny thing about being a business owner is you're always looking to make yourself redundant. The goal of a business is to be self-sustaining without you. But that involves a lot of letting go and allowing space for other people's visions and frankly, I've loved every aspect of that,” said Kes, in a statement regarding the company’s change of hands.
“I have already seen such a change with the leadership between Melissa and Natalie that is different from who I am, and I think it is what our community needs. It's not enough to just do good work, you have to be able to tell people about the good work that you've done or are doing, and Melissa and Natalie make a dynamite pair of leaders on that front.”

Kes will stay on in a part-time advisory capacity until June 2025, to support the company through this transition.

As Pisces RPM enters this new phase, ocean visionaries can have the peace of mind that not only are their projects staying on track, meeting goals, and maximizing their full potential through project management, but that their work is being recognized and their stories are being told by a company that understands the unique communications needs of the ocean industry. Utilizing Melissa and Natalie’s combined expertise and experience, Pisces RPM will continue to uphold the vision of tackling big ocean challenges through supporting ocean projects.
