SPEED MENTORING

Net Zero Atlantic welcomes all interested individuals/mentees to attend a speed mentoring session, to be held following the Atlantic Canadian Conference on Energy System Modelling.

This event is modeled after speed-dating. Each mentee will have approximately 5 minutes to ask questions before moving onto the next mentor. Mentees should come prepared with questions to ask the mentors. At the end of this event there will be further opportunity for mingling and asking follow-up questions while enjoying some refreshments.

The event will take place on Tuesday, June 13th from 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm in the Classroom at the PIER, 1209 Marginal Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Speed mentoring sessions help students and new professionals entering the energy field receive advice and guidance from experienced industry and government professionals.

• Mentors come from backgrounds in STEM, R&D, innovation, finance, energy transition, clean technology and sustainability.
• Mentees included students, recent graduates and young professionals who are eager to work in the energy sector, young professionals looking to progress within the industry, as well as experienced individuals who are looking to transition to the energy sector.

What is speed mentoring?

Modeled after speed dating, speed mentoring is a relatively new concept that focuses on quick-hit information, time-efficient networking in the methodical pursuit of a mentor.  Cycle through fixed 5-minute conversations to quickly help you make the most out of your career.

Mentors:

• Share your knowledge and insight about the Canadian energy sector
• Provide guidance to a student entering the field
• Help a developing professional advance their career and enrich your professional life
• Make new contacts and contribute directly to the future of the industry

Mentees:

• Learn about the energy sector from an experienced professional
• One-on-one mentoring
• Make new contacts and learn about the future of the industry
